The latest raid on a pangolin-trading syndicate pushes 2012 totals (based on media-reported busts) to over 300 pangolins seized and five arrests made in Thailand alone.

In Thailand’s third pangolin bust of the year, another 111 of the animals have been seized in a major sting on an illegal trading operation.

The Long-tailed pangolin is a world record holder!

Suited in an armor of beautifully colored scales, Africa’s Long-tailed pangolin (Uromanis tetradactyla) is the smallest and most arboreal of all of the world’s eight pangolin species.

It just doesn’t get much cuter than this!

This cute little Cape pangolin named Chaminuka (“Champ” for short) was recently rescued by the Tikki Hywood Trust in Zimababwe.

Sharing the love for Africa’s three-cusped pangolin!

The three-cusped pangolin (Phataginus tricuspis) gets its name from a unique feature found on their brown, keratinous scales: each one has three points (or keels) on the exposed edge – kind of like a Douglas Fir pine cone!

Make way for the giant ground pangolin!

The giant ground pangolin (Smutsia gigantea) is the largest of all the eight pangolin species. These pangolins can reach lengths of up to 1.8 meters (nearly six feet).

A pair of pangolin-smuggling ‘businessmen’ have escaped maximum punishment in Malaysia.

Nearly a year after being busted, two men in Malaysia have been convicted of illegally possessing pangolins and it seems having an ‘elderly mother’ to take care of may have won them both a more lenient sentencing.

Indian pangolin hitches a ride in the chassis of a new car.

A driver transporting a new car from a showroom in northern India was quite surprised when he discovered a rare creature stowed away in the chassis of the vehicle.
